UK MERLIN EH101 “MK2” completed the deployment with EUNAVFOR MED

On September 30 Tiger 01, the Royal Navy’s helicopter MERLIN EH101 “MK2” (part of 814 Naval Air Squadron) completed the deployment with EUNAVFOR MED; 92,6 hours on fly, 86 hours for operations, 31 missions (25 operational), a crew composed by 23 men and a woman are the key numbers of his detachment in the force.

The asset who joined EUNAVFOR MED on July 7th and flew back home, on September the 30th. Tiger 01, deployed in Malta, worked closely and operated from the flag ship’s flight deck, the aircraft carrier Cavour.

“EUNAVFOR Med” was launched on the 22 of June 2015 by the European Council with the aim of countering the activities of human smugglers and traffickers in the Mediterranean. The mission is currently concluding its first phase focused on intelligence gathering and on October 7 will transit to the second phase as decided by Political and Security Committee (PSC).
